In this article I am going to discuss why you should be using email marketing for your online business. Being able to build lasting relationships is perhaps the most important part of building your business and using email enables you to do this effectively.

Relationship Building

When you run an online business you have to rely on a virtual relationship between you and your customer. There is no shop that your customer can walk into and physically come and chat to you about your business. Therefore it is really important that you choose an effective means of communication that enables you to have an ongoing relationship.

Using email enables you to communicate with your customer regularly and whenever you feel you want to. It doesn't rely on them coming to visit your website. It doesn't rely on them coming to visit your forum.

Most people will look in their email box every day and therefore you can be almost guaranteed visibility to your email. Therefore by using email you are able to communicate if you so wish, on a daily basis.

Personal

When you write your email you can write it in a way that is very personal and individual. You can personalise your email by making sure that you have your subscribers name in it and that you write the email having in mind your ideal customer. This enables you to write to your subscriber as an individual and provide a more real-life experience.

One of the things that many marketers get wrong is that they become a different person when they write an email to their list!

You need to be consistent and remain yourself and write as you would do to a friend so that your email comes across naturally and in a friendly manner.

Control

I have already mentioned above that if you build a list of subscribers then you are able to communicate with them daily without relying on them coming to visit your website. Therefore by using an email campaign to build relationships and to promote your products you have far more control of that 'traffic'.

The list of subscribers belongs to you and you should make sure that you regularly download your list details to make sure that you have total control over that information.

No Distractions

Another good thing about using email marketing is that when your subscriber opens your email there are very little distractions for them. If they were to visit a website then there might be distractions and images that might detract from the information that you have written. If you use Face book as a means of communicating then there are plenty of distractions.

Not only are there few distractions for your subscriber, there are also no distractions for you as you write your email. When you go into your auto responder account you are not going to get distracted as much as you might do if you were going into Face book and writing a post!
